ARTWORK

A brief history of art making:

The concept for each project or body of work is thematic and complex while heralding beauty. Presenting my findings as deceivingly innocent forms, I appropriate and utilise iconic and naïve imagery, preying on our familiarity, in an attempt to mimic the superficial and to create false comfort – the viewer, therefore, must delve beneath the surface to gauge what truly is at play. Like a book, catalysed by a title, each work expounds a chapter within a unifying frame - for me, as the art-maker, the creative process is an exhaustive act of cathartic ritual – expelling personal demons and manifesting shattered dreams in tiny acts which deny “ordinary” life. Through the creative process, artist and viewer explore and question the human condition –  investigating concepts of mortality, spirituality, ethics, morality and social conditioning.
